OUR STORY
Dan Larsson was born in Nykoping, Sweden. He is a dual US and Swedish citizen. After spending a year as a Rotary High School Exchange Student in Whitefish, Montana in 1979, he returned to Sweden to finish high school. After high school, he spent a year as a Mountain Ranger above the Arctic Circle in the Swedish military. He decided to return to the U.S. for university in 1984 and attended the University of Oregon, earning his degree in International Studies/Political Science.
Dan then played music full time for two years, before going back to law school, graduating in 1994 from Seattle University School of Law. Dan is admitted to several jurisdictions and federal courts. He has a national and international practice with a focus on immigration law. He is also an active live and recording musician and has toured internationally with Grammy and Emmy winning artists.
Roma Larsson was born in Montreal, Quebec and raised the small town of Ste. Agathe Des Monts, Quebec. She is a citizen of Canada and US permanent resident. Roma is a licensed real estate agent in Ontario, Canada, and in Oregon.
Roma lived in Yucatan Mexico where she was the owner and operator of a real estate company "Yucatan Home Finders" for eight years prior to moving to Bend. Her experience working with foreigners purchasing a vacation home or permanent residence in a foreign country is invaluable.
Roma and Dan both have their "Mexican Permanent Residency" status with the intention to semi retire in the Yucatan in approximately 5 - 7 years.
The Larssons met in Mexico and have been married for 4 years. They have 3 adult children. They travel each year to Canada, Mexico and Sweden to visit their family and friends, and for business. They call Bend, Oregon, their primary home and enjoy the outdoor activities that Central Oregon has to offer; Mount Bachelor ski resort, 25 plus breweries, golf courses, biking and hiking trails, live entertainment and camping.
Dan and Roma decided to start North America Expat (NAE) because of their own personal experiences with immigration, buying and selling real estate, as well as setting up and running businesses internationally. These experiences have been exciting, but also frustrating at times. It is not always easy to know where to go, what to do, or who to trust.
With Dan’s 25 plus years as an immigration lawyer, combined with Roma's more than 13 years of real estate experience (including 8 years in the Yucatan), they have a wealth of information, knowledge and connections that they can share with you to make your transition to another country or state easier.
